Crystal-clear mountain lake; the banks are partly muddy. The fish move around a lot and are almost constantly on the move, searching for food.

Mid-May–October (depending on snow conditions)

Line weight: #6, length: 9‘0“–10‘0“

Leader

Length: at least 9 ft. Because the water is crystal clear, the fish are very wary. Tippet size: 0.12–0.14 mm, streamer: 0.20 mm (lake trout)

Dry fly

Small, natural patterns e.g. CDC Spent, CDC Ant, Elk Hair Caddis, etc.

Nymph

Bright nymphs or jigs, stripped slowly along the bottom

Streamer

3–5 cm on a sink-tip or sinking line
